Fried to order
Kebbeh, sambousek and falafel are fried to order so they reach the table still hot, with a crisp outside and a soft centre.

Lebanon, a bridge between East and West: golden kebbeh, crisp sambousek and grilled halloumi to share at the centre of the table, to travel for the length of a meal.
At Layali Beyrouth, hot mezze is prepared just as it is in Lebanon: dough shaped by hand, a fragrant filling, then frying or the griddle at the last moment. Small steaming plates set at the centre of the table, to enjoy in our dining room in the heart of Lyon 3, as takeaway or delivered.
“Hot mezze is the gesture of sharing: little plates that leave the kitchen steaming and are passed from hand to hand.”

In Lebanon, a meal is built around sharing. The table opens with cold mezze, hummus, moutabal, tabbouleh, before making way for the hot mezze, more generous and more fragrant. Sambousek, fatayer and falafel are eaten with the hand, while kebbeh and arayess are cut with a fork: this progression warms the table and prepares the palate.
For a meal to share, pair our hot mezze with our creamy hummus and our cold mezze. Vegetarian guests have their place at the table too, from spinach fatayer to cheese kellaj.

Among our hot mezze, falafel holds pride of place. Chickpeas and fava beans are worked with a bunch of fresh herbs, shaped into balls and fried to order: the outside turns golden and crisp while the centre stays soft and fragrant. A fully vegetarian recipe, served piping hot with a drizzle of sesame sauce.
It is rarely eaten alone: alongside hummus, grilled halloumi or a fatayer, enjoyed in our dining room at 38 rue du Dauphiné, as takeaway with Click & Collect or delivered in Lyon via Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
